A Birthday Dinner in Greece

I wish! But the cuisine at Milos in Midtown comes close. For my birthday last week, we dined on fresh fish and drank too much Greek wine before racing to Woody Harrelson's new show Bullet for Adolf. He didn't star in it, but he wrote and directed the piece, and I totally stalked him during intermission as he stood in the back making notes on the performances. (It was a small theater) Rubbing elbows does not even describe how close I stood next to him. Well it does... we were in fact elbow to elbow! We also shook his hand at the end and told him it was great. He looked confused by the gesture.

Side note: It's a decent show and I'm impressed by his wit and ability tell a story he's always wanted to tell. I'm not going to tell you want it's about because I had no clue going in and I think that made it more enjoyable.

Anyway, back to the food! Milos is a clean, large, open restaurant and the fish are its stars. They have a beautiful selection of the day's catch on display. I'll admit, some looked rather creepy but when filleted on a plate with just lemon, olive oil, and capers I could care less. The meal was fresh, simple, filling, and I highly recommend it for a pre-theatre experience in New York. Just be warned, when you pick a whole fish it takes about 20-30 minutes to prepare. So plan your schedule. Sprinting after a big meal like that to not be the jerk waltzing into a show after it begins is not fun. (guilty)
